September 26th-30th

SCSU student teachers were here again!  The second graders worked in small groups practicing how to tell time to the hour, half hour, quarter hour, and the difference between a.m. and p.m.

In reading we started to talk about nouns.  The second graders worked in groups to label as many nouns as the could on a classmate :)

September 19th-23rd

Another busy week in second grade!  We learned two new apps on the iPads...Raz Kids in reading & Speed Drill in math.  We also spent some time reading and playing math games with a partner.  On Thursday we had nine SCSU Student Teachers come to our classroom and help us with place value.  It was a great learning experience for everyone!!  Take a look at the pictures below.  

September 12th-16th

We had another great week at school!  We are still getting to know one another and did a little community building activity where we walked around the classroom trying to find friends that had similar interests.  We have also been working hard on building up our reading stamina!!!  The week ended with our second S.T.E.M challenge.  The students were given 25 note cards and some tape.  They needed to work in groups of three and try to build the tallest tower they could using only those resources.  It is fun to watch and listen to their ideas!  Below are some pictures from our week.
